Barrier layers
Layers designed tosuppress the permeation of liquids and gases into or through a solid, respectively.Barrier layers can be produced by plasma polymerisation based on e. g.fluoropolymers or SiO2. Important applications are barrier layersagainst water, oxygen and CO2 in food packaging as well as againsthydrocarbons in fuel tanks and leads.
