Magnetic mirror
Due to the Lorentz force, charged particles in magnetic fields move onhelical trajectories. When the magnetic lines of field direct apart (themagnetic flux decreases), the Lorentz force possesses a componentpointing towards the weaker magnetic field. This leads to reflection ofthe charged particle in regions with abrupt increase of the magneticfield.
