	Painting of plastics Many plastic articles, in particular moulded parts and profiles, arecoated for decorative and sometimes protective reasons. Herein, the lowsurface energy due to the lack of polar groups leading to insufficientadhesion of many coating binders is obstructive. A plasma treatment,mostly employing oxygen as process gas, generates radicals and polargroups on the surface, providing a strong adhesion of the coating layer.
