Aluminium
(Symbol Al) silver-white light metalwith high electric and heat conductivity. In contact with air,Al forms a thin transparent oxide layer which is stable at neutral pHvalues and protects the metal from further oxidation. Alkalinesolutions and many acids corrode the oxide and the metal. Al powder isinflammatory. Aluminium is the most widely used light metal, it is applied infoil, profiles and moulded parts. All surfaces can be activated by meansof a plasma.
