Argon (Ar)
Noble gas with high naturalabundance (almost 1% of the earth’s atmosphere) frequently used asprotective gas due to its total chemical inertia. Often applied as processgas in plasma cleaning and plasma activation. Ar plasma does not causechemical reactions with the substrate but is suited to sputterimpurities (see microsandblasting) and to form radicals on organicpolymers.
